A fourth grader's Veterans' Day activity was worthwhile to this veteran!

The Hickman Elementary School fourth grade teachers, Mrs. Hudson and Mrs. Thompson,  had their students write letters to veterans in November to thank them for their service to our country.  Mrs. Hudson took the letters and planned on giving them to the Stanilslaus County Veteran's Clinic in Modesto on Veterans' Day.  When she arrived at the clinic, a large ceremony was being held and Mrs. Hudson couldn't get into the clinic.  Mrs. Hudson then went to a nearby grocery store to do some shopping and just happened to see two vehichles in the store's parking lot that had veteran stickers on them.  She placed a letter on each of the vehicle's windshields and went about her business.

Today, a local Vietnam veteran, Frank Lopez, came to HES and showed the letter from one of our fourth graders to our office staff.  Mr. Lopez was so grateful to have received this letter on his truck windshield that he wanted to come to HES to thank the student.  Caden Bailey, the fourth grade writer of this letter, and his teacher, Ms. Thompson, (as well as his mom, Mrs. Bailey) were able to come to the front office to meet Mr. Lopez!  What a great experience for all!
